How to Stay Safe with Energy during National Safety Month

June is finally here and that means summer is right around the corner! Next to enjoying beach days, cookouts, and pool parties, June also reminds us to continually observe and practice safety precautions. While being a celebratory month for summer, June is also National Safety Month. I know what you’re probably wondering. What is National Safety Month and what is it for?

National Safety Month came to be in 1996, established by the National Safety Council. National Safety Month aims to increase awareness of leading health and safety precautions and promote safety in all sectors of Massachusetts and the United States, including the fuel industry.

How to Observe National Safety Month

How can you observe National Safety Month this June? When it comes to your home comfort, there are plenty of precautions you can take to make sure your home is safe and hazard free. Here are a few important ones to get you started:

*   Get regular HVAC tune-ups. Getting your tune-up for your heating and cooling equipment will help ensure that your systems are operating safely and at peak performance. Your local Noonan technician will check that all parts are working as they should be when you get your tune-up.

 *   Check and change your smoke and CO detectors’ batteries. There’s no better time than now to make sure your batteries in these alarms are fresh and ready to alert you if there’s an emergency in your home.

 *   Get your fuel tank filled or topped off with Bioheat® fuel. Getting your tank topped off may not seem like the most important thing to do right at the start of summer, but leaving your tank empty or low on fuel can cause corrosion from the inside out, creating a dangerous and expensive mess. Along with safety reasons, you'll also need oil for your hot water heater.

These are just a few to-dos to check off your home comfort safety list as we roll into June. At Noonan Energy, your comfort and safety are our top priority, so if you have any questions about how you can observe National Safety Month with your Massachusetts home comfort, just contact us, and we’d be happy to answer your questions.
